Arrival | Friday Evening
Got a chance to duck out of work early? Arrive after 2 pm and dive into some afternoon fun. Running late? No worries! Our contactless check-in will text you all the details so you can roll in whenever it suits you.
Early birds can explore our charming local towns. Stroll through Beacon (not Bacon), NY, and check out the unique shops and galleries before grabbing dinner at one of the many restaurants.
Arriving later? Kick-back in your cozy room. Whether you chose a spot in the Main House, a luxury room in the Connemara House (once a barn), or the Carriage House (both with fireplaces in every room), you’re in for a treat. Hungry? Pop over to Loughran’s Irish Pub next door for a hearty meal.
Day 2 | Saturday
Enjoy a relaxing night’s rest in the comfort of our luxurious linens. Breakfast is served at 9 a.m. Relax and relish our locally grown specialties and premium coffee while planning the rest of your day. Depending on your preferred level of activity, there are several choices.
Visit the Storm King Art Center
The Storm King Art Center is open on the weekends in the winter — but wear warm layers as you’ll be spending time outside. This 500-acre marvel has about 115 large-scale sculptures carefully exhibited in various landscapes. When there is snow on the ground, it makes the installations seem even more spell-binding. We think it is a magical place, but if you want a sneak peek, watch the episode of the “Master of None” series on Netflix (Season 2, Episode 9).
While you’re in Cornwall visiting the Storm Center, take some time to stroll downtown if you are a fan of HGTV’s Hometown Kickstart — they chose Cornwall as one of four small towns for renovations.
Take a Tour of West Point
Another iconic site very close to us is West Point Academy, a truly fantastic area to tour. You must reserve a tour in advance to go on the grounds. There are several tours to choose from, one of which centers on the academy’s history, starting in the Revolutionary War, and its part in training leaders. Another option is the cemetery tour, which points out the prominent figures laid to rest and the history surrounding them. If you are a sports fan, pick up some tickets for a home game or match.
Visit the Walkway Across the Hudson
Depending on where you are in the day and how early you started, the Walkway over the Hudson State Park is a must-see for extraordinary views of the Hudson River. At 1.28 miles, it is the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge, allowing you to see several miles up and down the Hudson River. It is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and there are miles of trails, parks, historic districts, shops, and restaurants to explore at either end of the walkway.
Alternative Day: Skiing, Snowboarding, or Skating
A true winter weekend means getting out on the snow or ice, which we have plenty of in winter! Several outdoor skating rinks and places to go skiing are only about a 30-minute drive from our inn.
Those in the area around early December may enjoy the Hudson, NY Winter Walk, a festive night filled with live music and fun. It’s usually held on a Saturday early in the month.
Time for Dinner
After this full day, you will want to celebrate with a marvelous dinner. A guest favorite is Blu Pointe in nearby Newburgh, with picturesque views of the Hudson River. However, we have several other exceptional restaurants in the area.
Day 3 | Sunday
Your morning begins with another tasty breakfast delivered to your room. Depending on how much time you need to get home, after checking out at 11 a.m., you can cover any Saturday suggestions you missed or visit a few wineries on your way out of town.
Visit the Brotherhood Winery or the Shawangunk Wine Trail
No visit to the Hudson Valley weekend getaway is complete without a visit to a winery. Depending on your favorite adult libation, we have wineries, cideries, breweries, and distilleries! Pick which you prefer, and plan a stop at one or more for tastings and maybe some bottles to bring home as a remembrance of your getaway.
